Sant'Apollinare Nuovo
Theodoric's church, with two long processions in mosaic.
King Theodoric had it built at the start of the sixth century beside his palace. Two rows of mosaics run along the nave: virgins on one side, martyrs on the other, walking towards Christ and the Virgin.
It is right in the centre, a few minutes on foot from the station, and is included in the combined ticket of Ravenna's monuments.
Opening days, times and tickets change through the year: always check the official site before you set off.
