Emilia-Romagna is one of the Italian regions with the most thermal spas. Here are the 14 of Romagna and Bologna: sulphur and salt-bromine-iodine waters, the mother water of the salt pans and even seawater, in the mountains, on the hills and on the beach.

Before you go

  • Cures or wellness

Spas offer two different things: thermal cures (muds, inhalations, baths) with a doctor, and entry to pools and spa for a day of relaxation. For the second, booking is enough.

  • If you live in Italy

Many spas work with the Italian national health service: with a doctor's prescription one course of cures a year costs only the ticket. Ask the spa whether yours does.

  • Swimsuit, cap, flip-flops

In many thermal pools a swimming cap is required and you need flip-flops; a bathrobe can often be rented on site. The spa's website tells you what to bring.

  • Hours and prices

They change with the season and the day of the week: check them on each spa's website before you leave, we do not write them here on purpose.

The Notte Celeste

Once a year, in summer, the spas of Emilia-Romagna open their doors until late at night: treatments, pool entries, concerts, excursions and markets in the spa towns. The dates of each edition are on the festival's website.

The Notte Celeste website

List checked on 17 October 2026 against the pages of the Emilia-Romagna Region's tourist site. The Terme della Fratta, the Terme di Brisighella and the Grand Hotel Terme Roseo are not here: the Region lists them as closed.
