Rentals in Romagna

Before you rent
What it costs
A normal bike usually costs 12 to 25 EUR a day, an e-bike 25 to 45 EUR. These are the prices we read on the shops' websites: the more days you keep it, the less you pay per day. For scooters, motorbikes and boats the indicative price is on the card of each rental.
How to book
Where you see "Book online" you pick dates and bikes on the shop's own website. Otherwise you write or call the shop (the contacts are on its site) or simply walk in. On the Riviera several shops deliver the bike to your hotel.
How far ahead
For a city bike out of season you can just turn up. In July and August, on the weekends of the big events and for e-bikes, road bikes, child seats and groups it pays to book a few days ahead.
What you need
Almost every shop asks for an identity document and many for a deposit or a credit card as guarantee. Read the rental terms before you set off: return times, damage and theft.
E-scooters and skates
To ride an e-scooter you must be at least 14 and wear a helmet; you ride on the road and on cycle paths, never on the pavement. In the towns with sharing you also find e-scooters by the minute through an app: here you find the rental shops. Few shops rent inline skates, ask the skating rinks too.
Scooters and motorbikes
For a 50 cc scooter you need to be 14 with an AM licence; for a 125 you need an A1 licence, in Italy a car licence (B) is fine too. Bigger motorbikes need an A2 or A licence. A helmet is always compulsory and the shop usually provides it.
Segway
In Romagna you mostly try a segway on the guided tours of the art cities, such as Rimini, Ravenna, Ferrara and Bologna: you start with a short practice and then ride around the old town with the guide.
Boats, dinghies, kayaks and SUP
In Italy a dinghy with an engine of up to 40 hp can be driven without a boating licence; bigger boats need a licence or a skipper. Pedal boats, SUP boards and canoes are also rented by many beach establishments: ask on the beach. In the towns without a rental listed here, ask the marinas and the sailing clubs.
