Before you choose

• What an agriturismo is

  An agriturismo is a working farm that takes guests: rooms or flats in the farmhouse, a kitchen built on what the farm produces, sometimes pitches for tents and campers. In Emilia-Romagna every agriturismo is listed in a register of the Region.

• The sunflowers

  The Region rates farm stays from 1 to 5 sunflowers, based on the accommodation, the services and the farm's activities: more sunflowers, more comfort and more to do. Farms without a rating yet are at the end of each area.

• Sleeping or eating

  Not every farm does everything: some only have rooms, some only a restaurant, some both. Each card tells you what the farm offers and how many beds it has.

• Booking

  A farm's kitchen usually works by reservation and only on some days of the week. Before you set off, check their website and book.

• Getting there

  Almost all of them are in the countryside or the hills, far from trains and buses. Without a car, a private transfer takes you from the station or the airport to the door.
