Palazzo dei Diamanti
The Ferrara palace clad in thousands of marble points.
Designed by Biagio Rossetti at the end of the fifteenth century, it owes its name to the roughly 8,500 diamond-pointed marble blocks that cover the facades and change with the light.
It houses the National Picture Gallery and the city's major art exhibitions. It is in the Addizione Erculea, the Renaissance quarter, ten minutes on foot from the Este Castle.
Opening days, times and tickets change through the year: always check the official site before you set off.
