Nature

Foreste Casentinesi National Park

The great national park between Romagna and Tuscany, with UNESCO-listed beech forests.

The national park covers the Apennine ridge between Romagna and Tuscany, with some of the oldest and best preserved forests in Italy. The ancient beech woods around the Sasso Fratino reserve have been a UNESCO site since 2017.

On the Romagna side you enter from Santa Sofia, Premilcuore and Bagno di Romagna, where the visitor centres offer maps and advice on the trails. Autumn, with the colours of the woods, is the finest season.
