Cesenatico Canal Harbour
The harbour drawn by Leonardo, with historic boats and their coloured sails.
In 1502 Leonardo da Vinci, in the service of Cesare Borgia, surveyed and drew the canal harbour of Cesenatico. Today the oldest stretch hosts the floating section of the Maritime Museum: traditional Adriatic boats with painted lug sails.
Along both banks are the fishermen's houses and many fish restaurants. In December a floating nativity scene is set up on the boats.
Opening days, times and tickets change through the year: always check the official site before you set off.
