Gradara Castle
The castle of Paolo and Francesca, with its village enclosed by two rings of walls.
The medieval castle and its village stand on a hill a few kilometres from Cattolica, just inside the Marche region. Tradition sets here the story of Paolo and Francesca, the lovers Dante tells of in the fifth canto of the Inferno.
You visit the rooms of the castle and walk along the walls, with a view that reaches the sea. In summer the village stays lively until late.
