Padiglione delle Feste at the Terme di Castrocaro
An Art Deco jewel from 1938, with gilded ceramics by Tito Chini, where the Castrocaro festival was born.
In the park of the Terme di Castrocaro, the Padiglione delle Feste was inaugurated in 1938, when the spa was enjoying its golden age. It is a building that combines rationalist architecture with Art Deco decoration: a hall for parties, dances and concerts for the spa's guests.
The decorations are by Tito Chini, heir to the celebrated family of Tuscan ceramicists: majolica with metallic lustre glazes, fountains, wall coverings and floors, where light plays on golds and colours. They are among the richest Deco decorations in Italy.
The pavilion is also linked to the history of popular music: for decades it hosted the Festival di Castrocaro, the 'Voci Nuove' competition founded in 1957, which launched many singers towards Sanremo.
You can visit on free guided tours by booking with the tourist office. Around it, the park of the Terme is open and invites you for a stroll; just above is the Fortezza and two kilometres away is Terra del Sole.
