Ferrari: Maranello and the Enzo Ferrari Museum in Modena

The Ferrari Museum next to the Maranello factory, then in Modena the birthplace of Enzo Ferrari beneath the great yellow bonnet.

A journey into the myth of the Prancing Horse. In Maranello, where Enzo Ferrari moved his workshop during the war and from where the first car bearing his name emerged in 1947, you'll find the museum of victories. In Modena, the house where he was born in 1898, next to a museum that looks like the bonnet of a racing car.

What you will see

1Maranello

Ferrari Museum Maranello 75 min

A stone's throw from the factory entrance and the Fiorano test track. The Formula 1 cars that won world championships, the most famous grand tourers, the racing cars from the golden years, the trophies and the history of the Scuderia. There are also driving simulators, which need to be booked separately. Outside, along via Abetone, you can see the historic factory gate.

Open every day except Christmas and New Year's Day; ticket with date and time, the pass for both museums is good value (they must be visited within 48 hours).

2Modena

Museo Enzo Ferrari 60 min

Opened in 2012. On one side, the 19th-century house and workshop of Enzo's father, where he was born in 1898, with the story of his life and the engines. On the other, the large new gallery designed by Jan Kaplický's Future Systems studio: a yellow aluminium roof, the colour of Modena and the Ferrari badge, with air intake slits like a bonnet. Beneath it, the cars on display change with the exhibitions.

Open every day; same pass as the Ferrari Museum.

Tips

  • If you want to see the centre of Modena as well, take the 'Modena, the Cathedral and balsamic vinegar' tour: combined with this one, it makes a full day.
  • On Ferrari event days Maranello gets crowded: with a timed ticket you can enter without queuing.
